Message from President
Dear Friends,
I thank the members for giving me a chance to serve this prestigious organisation.
BRASA – Breast Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons Association is a platform for Breast Surgeons to come together to share knowledge, new techniques, and management for various breast diseases including both breast aesthetics and reconstruction.
Breast cancer is one of the cancers with excellent prognosis, and hence many survive the disease, but the trauma of losing a breast is psychologically and socially a setback, and thus comes the need and importance of breast reconstruction.
The breast has long been a mark of beauty. We organize training programs and CME’s for Procedures aimed at improving breast aesthetics, like implants, mastopexy and mammoplasties or Reconstructive procedures like whole breast reconstructions with autologous tissue transfer, Breast oncoplasties etc.
Our organisation is for anyone associated with breast management, be it Breast surgeons, General surgeons performing breast surgeries, plastic surgeons, pathologists, oncologists, radiologists, and radiation oncologists.
We kindly request your support and recommendations to ensure the achievement of our objectives for a productive and impactful association.

Message from Secretary
Please accept my deepest gratitude for selecting me as your secretary. It is my honour and proud privilege to serve our society. BRASA in a short span of few years has grown into a dynamic, progressive and vibrant organisation in the field of Breast Care. Awareness about Breast related problems both oncologic and aesthetic have grown leaps and bound in India. From good old days where Breast Surgeons were only involved in cancer surgery to the present day specialist breast care in form of oncoplastic reconstruction, Breast Oncology and aesthetic Breast Surgery we have come a long way.
Our association intends to bridge this knowledge gap and unite specialists involved in Breast Diseases i.e. General Surgeons, Onco surgeons, Plastic Surgeons, Radiation & Medical Oncologists, Radiologists and Pathologists together under one umbrella . Our motto is “That all specialists speak the same language of Breast Diseases Management with a desire to teach and learn from each other”.
Our Objectives include
- Creating Awareness about Reconstructive and Aesthetic Breast Surgery
- Educating Breast Cancer Survivors on their Breast Reconstruction Options
- Educating the masses about safe and ethical practice in aesthetic breast surgery including use of Breast implants.
- Implement programs for Breast Self- examination at an early age
- Creating Mastectomy support groups
- Special emphasis will be made for organising training programs and fellowship for our members.
BRASA what started out as a personal initiative of our founder President Dr Mahesh Mangal and Dr Bhagwat Mathu, has grown into a national organisation of repute, in a short span of time. I would request all of you to bring in your Breast team colleagues and residents as members and strengthen our association. Our membership is open to all medical practitioners of breast multi-disciplinary team and individuals in care of breast diseases.
Once again, looking forward to your support and suggestions in taking our association forward and to serving the society to the maximum.
